Welcome to my first installment of “Food Photo Friday” where I’ll be posting tasty images from my life and travel abroad!
This week I chose one of my all time favorite travel dishes: Melakan Laksa! This Spring Festival I went to Malaysia for a few days, and took a day trip from Kuala Lumpur down to Melaka. I wish I had more than just a day in Melaka, it was amazing! A hybrid of Dutch, Portugese, Indian and Chinese cultures, I could have spent days exploring all of the different neighborhoods. By the time I arrived in Melaka it was well past my lunchtime and I was starving. I found a cute restaurant by the riverside and ordered a recommended dish I had never heard of: Laksa. The ingredients sounded great: a spicy yellow curry soup with noodles, vegetables, shrimp and a hard boiled egg. When the Laksa arrived it exceeded my expectations! Spicy, tangy, flavorful curry that was just soupy enough I didn’t feel guilty sipping every last drop. The thin textured soup was different than any other curry I had ever tasted, and it was so good I had it again for dinner at a different restaurant!
Hopefully you all enjoy the new addition of Food Photo Fridays. I know I’m making myself hungry just by looking at this!
